World Autism Awareness Day
Are you aware?
Do you know that there are more than 67 million people worldwide affected by Autims and still growing?
Do you know that Autism is the fastest-growing developmental disability in the U.S., affecting 1 in 150 children.?
Do you know that every 20 minutes, a child is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder.?
Autism is more common than juvenile diabetes, childhood cancer and AIDS combined. It is one of our community’s most urgent needs.
World Autism Day
On December 18 2007, the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution 62/139, tabled by the State of Qatar, which declares April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) in perpetuity. This year will be the second-ever World Autism Awareness Day on 2 April 2009.
On April 2, People worldwide will be using this day to bring awareness to autism as a growing global health crisis.
There are many events around the world that is trying to raise the awareness of autism through their various activies. See here for a list of activities worldwide.
