Course Description
This training workshop is meant for parents and caregivers who are considering a mainstream education placement for their child with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Attendance at this workshop will empower parents and caregivers with the information and key decision-making factors to make an informed decision regarding their child’s readiness for mainstream learning.
Each student with ASD is different and has access to different levels of support. Participants in this training workshop will be exposed to “real-life” case examples which will highlight readiness skills and types of supports that help to maximize opportunities for success when students with ASD encounter challenges in a mainstream educational institution.
A variety of learning activities will encourage the participants’ self-reflection on how the information applies to their own child. Participants may be engaged in demonstration activities which will provide them with an opportunity to discuss the information and key factors presented.
