Course Description

This workshop aims to empower parents and caregivers with the information and key decision-making factors to make an informed decision regarding their child’s readiness for mainstream learning.

Each student with autism is different and has access to different levels of support. Participants in this training workshop will be exposed to “real-life” case examples which will highlight readiness skills and types of supports that help to maximise opportunities for success when students with autism encounter challenges in a mainstream educational institution.

Participants will be encouraged to reflect on how the information can be utilised for making an informed decision that is best for their child.

Objectives of The Course

make a more informed decision regarding their child’s placement in a mainstream educational institution based on:

  • child’s abilities and readiness
  • available resources within the family
  • the school’s philosophy and available support
