Singapore Primary 1 School Registration

It is the time of the year for many parents in Singapore to start enrolling their children to the Primary School system. This is an important milestone for school education and many parents will be facing some dilema of how to choose the “right” school for their child.

For parents who are sending their child to the Primary school for the first time, it could be quite confusing and there are important dates to remember. In Singapore, there are different dates for different kind of eligibility to register. Please refer to the table provided below for quick references.


Important Registration Dates

If your child is born on or between 2nd Jan 2003 to 1st Jan 2004, he will need to start his primary school education starting next year 2010.

The Primary school registration starts from July 7 until Aug 28 and will be broken down into different phases.

Registration will be opened from Mondays to Fridays between 8am to 11am and between 2.30pm and 4.30pm during the above registration period.

Parents’ Concerns

For parents who has children with autism, there are more considerations to make when choosing a school. I will try to share with you some of the considerations that are facing most parents and what are the deciding factors in the coming days.

Some of the major considerations that many parents with autism are facing when deciding for Primary one registration are:

  • What are the factors to decide which school to choose?
  • Is my son ready for school?
  • Enroll in Mainstream or in autism-specific school?
  • To defer for another year or not?
